Migraine Independence Coaching

<Imagine> a life in which you have control over your migraines, instead of letting them control you. -- Robert Cowan, MD

Living with migraine or other long term severe headaches is very difficult.
Now there is a way for you to expand your view of yourself and your capabilities, and participate more in the world.
It is called Migraine Independence Coaching.

Perhaps you have decided on your own that the life you are leading – the limited life, one in which control is out of your hands – is not enough for you. Or perhaps you have been healed to a large extent by a health care professional (1) and they have referred you to me.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.-- George Eliot

At this time there is no cure for migraine, and you must understand that reality in going about your life……but a hopeful mindset will be a great asset in creating the person you want to be.

When our coaching relationship begins, migraine is still the Focus of your life. At its end, once new options have been identified and realized, migraine will have become a Footnote, and a rejuvenated person will have emerged, ready and able to move ahead with life once more.

I prevailed over my own migraine demons without the benefit of a coach. I had a very strong will, and I was fortunate enough to have the support of many professionals and mentors, and great family support. Nevertheless, the process took an exceedingly long time. The coaching profession was still in its infancy.

Now you can access the coaching skill and experience of this ‘migraine insider’ as you find your own way towards migraine independence.

Let’s suppose that you are finishing a successful program at a migraine clinic or with a headache specialist.

You have had your headache burden reduced by 20-80%.
-- What a relief! --
Yet your Mind still needs to catch up with this new physical reality.

It is as if you have been flying for hours and hours in storm clouds…and suddenly you are blinded by the brilliant sunshine into which you have emerged.

Never before have you had such inner capacity ….and the freedom to deal with the world …and there are so many options available.

How can you catch up, and adapt?

In a very basic sense you, as a migraineur, want to be able to shift from “I can’t” to “I can!”

Whether you decide to be coached independently or are referred, it is not easy to change. The role of a coach is to help people clarify where they want to go…and then to assist them in getting there.
What are the highlights of the exciting journey that we take together?

The three essential steps in the coaching process are Awareness, Choice and Trust.

I help you become aware of, to re-connect with your unique combination of strengths and values that will be the building blocks of your new life.

Instead of backsliding into the status quo (which can be so comfortable), I encourage you to focus on change, to choose the learning and actions which will direct you towards a much more positive and productive future.

And I remain positive and encouraging, celebrating progress, treating any so-called failures as learning experiences, and always bolstering your confidence that change can and will occur.

Life is like a ten-speed bike. Most of us have gears we never use. -- Charles Schulze

There is now a path to greater independence from migraine: at what point would you like to begin?
